THE DARK LINE IN GOD'S FACE - EXODUS 34:6,7

We continue our study on the Elijah Message and there are details in 1 Kings 18 that need to be emphasized that have not been mentioned.

I.  Despite the apostasy there is a remnant left.  1 Kings 18:3,4
    A) Elijah had to be told 7000 had not bowed the knee to Baal.  1 Kings 19:18
    B) A remnant of women were fiercely loyal to Jesus when He was crucified.
    C) There will be a faithful remnant in the final conflict.  Revelation 12:17

II. God uses a non-canonical prophet to confront the apostasy.
    A) Elijah, John the Baptist, Ellen White, William Foy, Hazen Foss.  1 Thessalonians 5:19-21; 1 John 4:1
    B) They have a straight testimony.
    C) We can make them null and void by ignoring the message

III. God's wrath descends on the unrepentant prophets of Baal.  1 Kings 18:40
      A) His wrath is passive and sometimes active.  Prophets & Kings p. 154
      B) John the Baptist taught the Messiah's wrath.  Luke 3:16,17
      C) Those who worship the beast suffer God's wrath.  Revelation 14:9,10

IV. Rain came when the people repented as fire consumed the sacrifice.
      A) Reformation began when the prophets of Baal were slain.
      B) Elijah prayed 7 times before the rain came.
      C) The preaching of the cross will lead people to repent and to reform as the Holy Spirit poured out like rain.  Revelation 18:1
