3) "No Pain, No Gain"
We live in a society that wants instant gratification.  We use credit cards for things we want, but don't have the money to purchase at interest rates that are outrageous.   Some play the lottery in hopes of instant fortune.  What if you could come to church and use a drive-up window and order all the faith, hope, and love you need and never go inside?  1 Corinthians 9:25 - an athlete disciplines himself.

I.  Discipline involves delayed gratification - scheduling the pain and pleasure of life in order to enhance the pleasure by meeting the pain first.  Matthew 13:44; Galatians 5:22,23  Delayed gratification in healthy finances, and spiritual life

II. Discipline involves advance decision making
     A. Procrastination is the number one enemy of discipline - Fram oil filter commercial - pay a little now or
          a whole lot later.
     B. Plan your finances.
     C. Plan your spiritual life - Barna Research - Unchristian

III. Discipline involves accountability - Hebrews 10:24,25; Sanctified Life p. 15
