5) Compassion, a Christian Constant
.
COMPASSION, A CHRISTIAN CONSTANT - LUKE 10:30-37

The story of the good Samaritan is based on an actual incident, both the priest and the Levite were in the audience as Jesus tells the story: Desire of Ages p. 499.  It is a story that , in parable, illustrates how the human race fell and how a Savior (the good Samaritan) came where we were and had compassion on us, bound up our wounds, paid the cost for our recovery, and comes again to give rewards.  But the key ingredient of the good Samaritan in contrast to the priest and Levite is compassion.

I.  We should have compassion for lost people - some have messy lives and can be very draining.
9T 189,190; Matthew 10:6

II. We should have compassion for fellow members.  Ephesians 4:32; Galatians 6:1,2 Learn to treat others as Christ has treated us.

III. We should have compassion for the needy - Matthew 25:34-36
