Simple Doughnuts
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 2 tbsp. active dry yeast
  • 2/3 c. honey
  • 1/2 c. wheat germ
  • 1/3 c. almond or cashew butter
  • 2 tbsp. lecithin granules
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 tsp. cardamom
  • 3 c. unbleached flour
  • 2 3/4 c. whole wheat flour
  • Florida Crystals granulated organic sugar cane
  1. Sprinkle yeast over water, then add remaining ingredients except flours. Mix well.
  2. Add flours to make a medium-stiff dough. Knead 5 minutes. Let rise until double (about 1 hour).
  3. Roll out to about 1/2-inch thick and cut into doughnut shapes.
  4. Place on cookie sheet, sprinkle Florida Crystals over doughnuts, and let rise another 30 minutes.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes. Yields about 3 dozen doughnuts.
