THE PRAYER THAT MOVES THE HEART OF GOD - DANIEL 9: 9, 18

Daniel is concerned about an unexplained portion of the vision in chapter 8 - the 2300 days.  He thinks the Lord may extend their 70 years of captivity.  So he begins to pray.

I.   His prayer of confession - Daniel 9:5-8
     A.
Sinned and done wrong
     B.  Been wicked and rebelled
     C.  Turned away and not listened
     D.  Unfaithful

II.  His prayer of a contrite heart - "we" have sinned
     A.  No transgression of Daniel is recorded - Daniel 6:4
     B.  What God delights - Psalms 51:17

III.  He admits the consequences of sin Daniel 9:11-14 - Hebrews 12:5, 6.  God used the consequences as discipline

IV.  His prayer because of God's mercy - Daniel 9:9, 18; James 4:6-10.  The prayer of a repentant and contrite heart moves the heart of God to mercy.
